On December 19, the annual reporting conference of the Samshvilde Archaeological Expedition will be held at the University of Georgia. During the meeting, participants and researchers of the expedition will present reports on the year’s work, which covered the following topics:
* Updated topography of the Samshvilde Fortress and recent discoveries
* Results of archaeological research in the Sioni district
* Complex study of the bioarchaeological material from the Samshvilde ancient settlement
* Study of the zooarchaeological material discovered at the Samshvilde ancient settlement and its significance
* Conservation and restoration of metal artifacts discovered at the Samshvilde ancient settlement
* Modified horn and bone artifacts discovered at the Samshvilde ancient settlement and their study
* The Samshvilde Kura-Araxes cultural monument
The conference will also include a public discussion concerning the significance of the discovered facts/sources for Georgian history as a scientific field.
