Tina Bettels-Schwabbauer

Research associate at the Institute of Journalism and at the Erich Brost Institute for international journalism TU Dortmund University. She is the managing editor of the German website of the European Journalism Observatory (https://de.ejo-online.eu/), a network which intends to build a bridge between journalism science and journalism practice. From 2017 to 2019 Tina was a member of the EU project “New skills for the next generation of journalists” (https://newsreel.pte.hu/). Tina graduated in online journalism, worked for several media outlets in Germany and lectured for two years in Media Studies at the University of Adelaide, Australia. Her research interests include journalism education with a focus on Central and Eastern Europe, press freedom and cross-border journalism.

Dr. Nico Drok

Has been working in journalism education for more than 35 years. He studied Institutional Economics and Sociology at the universities of Rotterdam and Groningen, and completed his PhD in Social Sciences at the University of Nijmegen. He is professor of Media & Civil Society at Windesheim University of Applied Science, Zwolle, The Netherlands. His main research interests are civic journalism, journalism education and news media use of young people. Next to that he is President of the European Journalism Training Association (EJTA), which has 70 members in 30 European countries. Furthermore he is Vice Chair of the World Journalism Education Council (WJEC). He is married, has two daughters and four grandchildren.

Nadia Vissers

Director of the European Journalism Training Association (EJTA) which groups more than 70 journalism centres, schools and universities from about 30 countries across Europe with the main aim to improve journalism education in Europe. She is the General Coordinator of EUfactcheck www.eufactcheck.eu , the fact-checking project for students of Journalism from more than 20 EJTA schools. She has been a Staff member of Artesis Plantijn University College Antwerp for over more than 20 years as Coordinator of Internationalisation in the Journalism and Communication programmes, Head of the international programme of Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Coordinator of Work Placement and Coordinator of many international student projects. She has an elaborate international network of active media professionals and journalists and has been guest lecturer in many cities around the world.

Dr. Martina Topić

Senior Lecturer in Public Relations at Leeds Business School. Martina holds a PhD in Marketing, Public Relations and Communications (Leeds Beckett University, 2019), PhD in Sociology (University of Zagreb, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, 2013), PG Diploma in Global Journalism (City University of London, 2007), BSc/MA in Political Science and BSc/MA in Journalism (both from University of Zagreb, Faculty of Political Science, 2003). Martina worked as a journalist in print media in Croatia, Slovenia and Italy.  Martina also worked at the University of Zagreb (Faculty of Political Science) as a research assistant (2007-2013). At Leeds Beckett University, she was first appointed as a graduate teaching assistant (2014-2016), then Lecturer in Public Relations (2016-2017), and since December 2017, she has worked as a Senior Lecturer in Public Relations.

She has worked as a researcher on many research projects, including UNESCO Media Development Indicators (2008-2009), FP7 Identities and Modernities in Europe (2009-2012), Public Service Employment (2017-2017), yellow sticker shopping project (2017-2018), sustainability and consumer views (2018-2019) and COMPETE IN project (since October 2017). She was also a lead on a British Academy funded project on women in the advertising industry (2018-2019) and a HEFCE funded project on Women Journalists (2018-2019). Since 2018, she leads the EUPRERA project on Women in Public Relations, and since 2019 she leads a project on research-based teaching (HEFCE).

She is a member of the editorial board of several academic journals including Sociology (British Sociological Association) and The Qualitative Report (Nova Southeastern University). She is an editor of the section ‘Culture, Media and Film’ of Cogent Arts and Humanities Open Access Journal (Taylor & Francis). She is a member of the British Sociological Association, European Sociological Association, EUPRERA, ECREA and Conference of Socialist Economists. Since January 2020, she serves as an external advisor to two research centres at the University of Lisbon (Centre for Public Policy and Administration and Centre for Interdisciplinary Study of Gender).

Tinatin Rukhadze

Co-founder and General Director of ACT. Tinatin is an entrepreneur, business leader, and manager that counts more than 20 years of experience. She has an education in Psychology (MS) and Business (MBA).

Since 2002, Tinatin Rukhadze is co-founder and general director of a consulting company – ACT. Under her management ACT has become the market leader in Georgia and later begun an international expansion. At present, the company has offices in Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan, and operates in more than 20 countries. Tinatin continues to successfully manage ACT and global business development. Besides, Tinatin, as a leading consultant and business coach of the company, is involved in ACT projects and provides strategic consultations to the leaders of both private and public organizations in different countries.

Tinatin was also actively involved in educational activities - from 2007 onwards, she lectured at the following institutes: Free University, Caucasus Business School, International Business School (ISB) and Georgian University. In 2015, Tinatin Rukhadze and her partners founded the first coaching company in Georgia, GROWIN, which became the official representative of Erickson College International in Georgia. Today, Tinatin is the author and co-author of several successful programs in the areas of personal development, motivation and leadership. She also conducts closed-door training for organizations, facilitation of strategic meetings, and personal coaching of top management at the GROWIN base.

In addition to her business management and coaching practice, Tinatin Rukhadze has been involved in business management since 2003 and is a co-founder, investor and supervisory board member of microfinance organization “Lazika”, a travel agency “BTL”, HR outsourcing company “One Point”, construction company “TR construction”, Restaurant "9 Mta" and more.

Since 2014, Tinatin became actively involved in the public sector and contributed to its development. To that end, she co-founded the business association “Women for Tomorrow”, where she has previously served as a chairwoman and for now she is currently a board member.

In 2016, Tinatin appeared on Forbes Women Georgia's cover with an extensive interview for her special contribution in business. In 2018, Tinatin became the winner of the prestigious Clicquot competition. The Clicquot Business Woman Award is called the “Oscar” of women business leaders, the awards are given to women around the world who have contributed to the development of the global economy and business.

Carien J. Touwen

Senior lecturer and coordinator international programmes at the School of Journalism in Utrecht, the Netherlands, part of the HU University of Applied Sciences.

Over the years, Carien has worked in several positions as coordinator, education manager and quality advisor. She has been involved in curriculum development and education innovation, most recently the development of honours education in the Netherlands, part of a nation-wide project. She has worked as a freelance education consultant and auditor for higher education institutes in the Netherlands.

Carien has a background is in geography, conflict studies and foreign reporting. In 2012 she finished a research master in African Studies, her thesis dealing with the media representation of Africa and the construction of meaning in African media.

Dr. Manuela Manliher

Aassociated professor of journalism in the Faculty of journalism at Sofia University.  She is a vice –dean of international relations.

She teaches Radio Programming, Communication Skills and PR in European Studies and Communication Management. Her academic interests focus on innovations, new trends in communications, journalism education and integration of theory and practice.

She has worked almost 20 years as a reporter, editor and presenter in Rock station, CHR station and Radio France Internationale. The professional interests of Dr. Manlier include public relation and communication management, based on her professional experience as communication specialist, branded for RFI - Bulgaria.  Manuela has experience in European academic networking.  She has contributed to number of media projects as coordinator of EJTA and collaborator to CIME (Center for International Media Ethics).  Four years (2010-2014) Manuela Manlier served as a member of Board of European Journalism Training Association (EJTA).  Member of jury of EU Prize of Journalism 2015, Georgia.

In addition she has invited as a guest lecturer in International weeks of Erasmus Hogeschool, Brussels and Artesis Pantijn Hogeschool, Antwerp.

Soso Galumashvili

Since 2002 he has been the founder and senior consultant of the PR and marketing communications company Gepra. His 25 years of experience include print and electronic communications in private, public and state structures.

His consulting activities also included the development of long-term communication strategies and social partnership projects for private and public organizations.

In 1995-2020, he consulted majoritarian candidates in different regions of Georgia on parliamentary and local self-government elections.

Since 2007 he is the founder and managing partner of Tbilisi PR School.

Frateur Wouter

After my philological studies, I started teaching at AP University College. For a few years I did freelance work in journalism. I teach written journalism, Dutch writing skills and fact checking.

At AP I initiated the 'Triangel-project'. Triangel is a hyperlocal newspaper entirely made by our students. In October 2020, the 14th year of publication started.

I participated in the founding of the EUfactcheck project, a pan-European factchecking project with about 30 journalism schools. Up till now, I have been part of the publication team

Prof. Dr. Holger Sievert

Prof. Dr. Holger Sievert 

Prof. Dr. Holger Sievert is Head of Research Commission and Local Head of Media Faculty at the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences, Germany. He teaches Media Management, specializing in PR and Communication Management, at its Cologne Campus. 

As a training and education expert in the communications industry, Prof. Sievert has built and managed numerous programs in Germany and abroad. In research, he focuses on interactive, international, internal and integrated communication. His studies at the Macromedia University were conducted in liaison with cooperation partners, such as the German Foreign Office, The Federal Press Office and the Council of Europe. 

In addition to teaching, Prof. Sievert has always been active in communicative management functions. He began his career at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants before moving to Bertelsmann, where he worked for many years in various functions. He was a member of the board of directors of komm.passion, an agency in Düsseldorf, for more than three years. Currently, he advises many well-known companies in the area of strategic communication. 

Prof. Sievert was or is among others a member of the Commission on Global PR Research at the Institute for Public Relations in the USA, a project leader of the “International Communication Compass in Europe” for the “European PR Education and Research Association” (EUPRERA) as well as a member of the Executive Education Board at the Technical University of Munich. He has received several international PR Science awards
