On June 3, the University of Georgia hosted an international event titled “Evaluation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence and the Professionalization of Evaluation in Georgia” as part of the world's largest initiative, GLocal Evaluation Week 2026.
GLocal Evaluation Week, launched by the World Bank’s Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI), aims to promote knowledge sharing in the field of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E). The University of Georgia has been an official partner of this global initiative for the second consecutive year.
The 2026 event was jointly organized by HubEVAL – the first academic evaluation hub in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus established within the University of Georgia’s Department of Public Administration – and the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Professionals Association of Georgia (MELPA).
The event featured two panel discussions focusing on the impact of artificial intelligence on evidence collection and reliability, as well as the steps needed to establish evaluation as an independent profession in Georgia.
The discussions brought together monitoring and evaluation professionals, representatives of international organizations, academia, and research institutions, fostering an exchange of ideas and experiences on the future of evaluation in the AI era.
