With the cooperation between the University of Georgia and the University of Shiraz, students from the University of Georgia, both at the master's and bachelor's levels, participated in an interdisciplinary study of Persepolis Palace in Iran from October 15-22.
As part of the existing project, which also involves the University of Bologna (Italy), Georgian students had the opportunity to actively engage in the research and restoration work on the monument.
During this research, an until-now unknown gate at Persepolis was discovered, resembling only the famous Ishtar Gate in Babylon.
It's worth noting that within the framework of this cooperation, an even larger group of University of Georgia students will join the research project at Shahregur, another UNESCO cultural heritage site. This project will run in parallel with the ongoing one at Persepolis.
