UG joined the Virtual Institute academic network, expanding the reach of the VI to 59 countries. The membership process was spearheaded by the Law School of the University of Georgia.
The Virtual Institute (VI) is UNCTAD’s program of support to academia. Launched in June 2004 with universities representing five countries, by June 2014 the VI had grown into a true global network of 101 universities and research centres in 52 countries.
The ultimate objective of the VI is to help developing countries design evidence-based policies that result in inclusive and sustainable
development.
