Special statement by the Rector of the University of Georgia, Konstantine Topuria

On September 30, at 6:00, the University of Georgia held an emergency briefing, where Rector Konstantine Topuria responded to a series of false claims recently spread by propagandist media against the university.

Speaking on behalf of the institution, the Rector emphasized that the university’s truth is stronger than propaganda and described the attacks as an attempt to damage the university’s reputation and undermine the right to free education in the country.

The statement highlighted that the University of Georgia operates openly and transparently, is consistently ranked first in the region by international organizations, and has always been committed to providing high-quality, diverse education.

The university rejected allegations of political involvement, unlawful activities, or misuse of grants, stressing that no lectures, trainings, or projects on its premises serve political purposes. According to Rector Topuria, these accusations are part of a broader media campaign not only against one university but against the entire educational system.

He concluded that despite years of such propaganda attacks, the University of Georgia continues to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the Georgian educational space.
