The University of Georgia’s School of Health Sciences Receives Another Significant International Recognition

The University of Georgia’s School of Health Sciences has achieved another important international milestone. As an official member of the sSPHERE (Small Countries Public Health Education for Sustainability and Equity) network, the University signed the Milan Declaration at the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) Congress held in Milan.

This important achievement confirms the University of Georgia’s active role in advancing public health education, research, and international collaboration across Europe.

The Milan Declaration brings together ASPHER, the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe), and sSPHERE members around a shared commitment to strengthening the quality, sustainability, equity, and leadership of public health education in Europe’s small countries and across the wider region.

The signing ceremony was attended by:

• Professor Mary Codd, President of ASPHER;
• Professor Oleg Lozan, Chair of sSPHERE;
• Dr. Natasha Azzopardi-Muscat, Director of the Division of Country Health Policies and Systems at WHO/Europe.

For the University of Georgia, this partnership once again highlights its growing international presence, active engagement within the European academic community, and unwavering commitment to excellence in education and research.
