The School of Law at the University of Georgia hosted the International Legal Conference Series on EU Law on June 4–5, focusing on “New Horizons of EU Law: Adapting to Global Change.”
The conference brought together legal scholars, practitioners, and researchers from leading European universities to discuss key developments in EU law and its response to global challenges. Topics included the rule of law, European integration, competition law, digital market regulation, artificial intelligence and fundamental rights, EU enlargement policy, energy security, green transition, and human rights protection.
Speakers emphasized the importance of adapting legal frameworks to rapid technological and societal changes while safeguarding fundamental rights and freedoms. The event also highlighted the significance of academic cooperation between Georgia and Europe and reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to its European future. Among the keynote speakers was Professor Albert Weber of the University of Innsbruck, who stressed the importance of the rule of law, democracy, fundamental rights, and free-market principles for Georgia’s European integration.
