Natia Skhvitaridze (MD, MBA, PhD) - Full professor (School of Health Sciences, UG). She is a licensed OB/GYN physician with more than 15 years of experience in global and public health. Dr. Natia Skhvitaridze serves as the Deputy Director of the Global and European Health Education and Research Institute, a global health specialist at the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, an invited expert for the committees of Higher Educational Institutions' Authorization and Higher Educational Study Programs Accreditation in Health Field, and a member of the working group responsible for developing the educational competency benchmark document in Public Health at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE). Dr. Skhvitaridze holds a PhD in Health Sciences from UiT The Arctic University of Norway. She leads master’s and doctoral-level courses in Global Health and Health Promotion. She has also co-developed continuous professional education programs, including Global Health Diplomacy and Global and Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response. From 2020 to 2022, she worked as a consultant for the World Bank and the United Nations on health-related initiatives. She has led and contributed to a wide range of international public and global health projects funded by the European Union, the European Commission, the World Health Organization, the Government of Norway, and other international partners. Dr. Skhvitaridze is a member of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA), the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH, USA), and the Norwegian Research School of Global Health. She also serves as a Senior Collaborator in the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) Study at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), University of Washington (USA). She is the author and co-author of more than 20 scientific publications. Her research areas include global health challenges, strengthening preparedness and response, and advancing education and equitable access in the fields of Global Health and Health Promotion. She is Plos Global Global Health Academic Editor.
