Dr. Zurab Batiashvili is a Research Fellow at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies since March 2018. He is also the visiting lecturer of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Georgia. In 1998-2003 he worked on different positions in the Secretariat of the Parliament of Georgia. In 2003 Dr. Zurab Batiashvili joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, where he held various positions, including that of a Counselor at the Georgian Embassy to the Republic of Turkey (2006-2013). In 2014-2018 he held various positions in the Office of the State Security and Crisis Management Council of Georgia including the Deputy Director of the Department of External Security. He has publications, including books in the field of international relations, national security and history. He holds his doctoral degree from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Mr. Batiashvili studied Middle Eastern Studies and International Relations at the Tbilisi Institute of Asia and Africa.
