Manana Machitidze, MD, Ph.D.(c), graduated from the Faculty of Paediatrics of Tbilisi State Medical University. She is a Ph.D. student at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) Clinical and translational medicine doctorate program. Her dissertation topic is ''The Role of Nurses' Qualifications in Improving Patient Safety''. Besides this, she is in research cooperation with colleagues from Israel and involved in the research project ''Evaluation of the student nursing training program on provision of telenursing through simulation''. After finishing her studies, she worked as a neonatologist in the maternity clinic and taught Paediatrics courses at the medical college. In 2009-2010 she completed nurse-TOT and nurse-leader training courses at Emory University. She is actively involved in the development of postgraduate nursing education. She is a coordinator of the Education Department of the Georgian Nurses Association. Since 2010, she has been working at the University of Georgia (UG) as a clinical mentor and invited lecturer. Since 2016 she has been a staff member as a clinical practice coordinator and lecturer at the same university. She is an author and co-author of two books, a few articles on Nursing education, and issues of nurse s' shortage. She has analyzed nursing problems for almost ten years on the factors hindering its development. She is actively involved in international projects and educational activities. She is a member of Georgia's Nursing Protocols and Guidelines Development Team. She has participated in international and local conferences. Also, she has expert experience abroad.
