Prof. Dr. Anna Phirtskhalashvili
Education: Anna Phirtskhalashvili graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law at Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University. She was awarded a Master of Laws degree by the Humboldt University (LL.M.) and a PhD by the University of Potsdam (Dr. Juris). She conducted her postdoctoral research in Germany at the University of Potsdam and the Berlin Social Science Center.
Anna Phirtskhalashvili has extensive experience in education and research in Georgia: at the University of Georgia, Georgian National University (SEU), Grigol Robakidze University, t Shota Meskhia Zugdidi State University, Tbilisi State University, and Shota Rustaveli Batumi State University. She also has experience abroad: at the University of Potsdam, the University of Würzburg, Eastern Switzerland University (OST), the Berlin Social Science Research Center (WZB), and is a member of the Innovation Council of the Institute for Educational Research and Management (Berlin).
Work Experience: Berlin Bar Association, Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid Committee of the Parliament (Bundestag) of the Federal Republic of Germany, Constitutional Court of Georgia, Committee on Human Rights and Civil Integration of the Georgian Parliament, governmental and non-governmental commissions/councils. Expert activities include various roles with FES, GIZ, USAID, UNICEF, World Vision, UNDP, and others.
Anna Phirtskhalashvili is the author and co-author of numerous scientific articles, analytical papers, textbooks, and monographs, as well as a co-author of commentaries on the constitution and laws. She is also an editor and reviewer for several national and international scientific publications.
Research Interests: Human rights, state structure, constitutional justice, welfare state and social rights, democratization.
