Elene Janberidze is an assistant professor at the School of Health Sciences of University of Georgia. She also works as a Chief Researcher at the Department of Gerontology and Palliative Medicine of Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University/Institute of Morphology. Her medical background is a Medical Oncologist and Palliative Care specialist. In 2011-2015 Dr. Janberidze was awarded Marie Curie Research Training Fellowship in the 7th Framework Programme (European Intersectorial and Multi-disciplinary Palliative Care Research Training). During this project she worked for four years at the Faculty of Medicine of Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). In 2015 she defended her Ph.D. in palliative care at NTNU of European Palliative Care Research Centre (Norway). The title of her thesis was Depression and Depressive Symptoms in Patients with Advanced Cancer. In 2013 she worked as invited researcher at VU Medical Centre in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) and in 2018-2019 as a postdoctoral research fellow at Third Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Medical Psychology of Charles University in Prague (Czech Republic). She has published interesting articles on palliative care in peer-reviewed journals. In 2019 she received the funding from Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation, as the project coordinator, with the title “For the Implementation of International Standards of Palliative Care (Legislative, Educational, Research and Healthcare Challenges)”. She participated in many research and clinically oriented trainings, as well as successful projects nationally and internationally.
