On February 27, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Department of Architecture of the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Georgia and the company BIMunify.
BIMunify is a leading global BIM consulting company providing innovative Building Information Management services across Europe, Central Asia, and the United States.
The memorandum signed between the School of Arts and Humanities at the University of Georgia and BIMunify will create additional opportunities for students of the Architecture Program within the learning process—particularly through the implementation of diverse practical projects and activities.
“This is an international company that has recently been established in Georgia, and its goal is to involve specialists in architecture and construction in planning processes using new technologies. On our part, we plan to introduce BIM (Building Information Management) technologies as a subject within the academic program, so that students can become familiar with the specifics of using this technology in design from the very beginning and enhance their professional role,” shares Ms. Nino Laghidze, Head of the Architecture Program.
The company’s scope of work includes not only project implementation but also the organization of international training courses and workshops. Through participation in these programs, students learn BIM management technology directly within the working process.
“Our company is engaged in introducing international projects to the Georgian market. At this stage, we are the only company that directly teaches and delivers BIM architectural management, which encompasses comprehensive project information management. It covers the entire lifecycle—from concept to final product. Considering that companies currently operating in Georgia do not work with BIM systems, we are the only organization on the market that, in addition to practical project implementation, offers students the opportunity to participate in training courses in BIM Architecture, BIM Coordination, and BIM Engineering,” notes Ketevan Kapanadze, Certified BIM Manager and representative of BIMunify.
For students of the Architecture Program at the University of Georgia, this memorandum represents another valuable opportunity to gain practical knowledge, most importantly aligned with international market standards for future professionals.
