On March 27 at 3:00p.m, the University of Georgia will host the presentation of the book “The History of Russian Occupation in Georgia,” authored by Dodo Chumburidze. The work examines the history of Russian occupation in Georgia from 1801 to the present day. It analyzes the mechanisms through which imperial power was established, the political, social, and cultural consequences of occupation, as well as its impact on the national identity of the Georgian people and on public life.
The book was prepared with contributions from:
*Dodo Chumburidze – Doctor of Historical Sciences, Chief Research Fellow at the "Tamaz Beradze Institute of Kartvelology";
* Khatuna Kokhrashvili – PhD in History, Senior Research Fellow at the "Tamaz Beradze Institute of Kartvelology";
* Vazha Kiknadze – Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor at the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Georgia;
* Lela Saralidze – Doctor of Historical Sciences, Chief Research Fellow at the "Institute for Regionalism Studies".
Within the framework of the presentation, a public discussion will be held on the topic of Russian occupation in Georgia. The event will be moderated by Gia Japaridze, who, together with invited guests, will discuss the historical context, the current situation, and the challenges facing the country today.
