The University of Georgia (UG), in collaboration with UG School, is pleased to announce the UG Engineering Hackathon 2026, which will take place on July 25–26. The event will bring together young people passionate about technology, engineering, and innovation.
The hackathon aims to discover and support the next generation of inventors, researchers, and engineers. Over the course of two days, participants will work on real-world engineering challenges, develop innovative solutions and prototypes, and present their projects to a panel of professional judges.
Participants will tackle challenges in a variety of cutting-edge fields, including water resource accessibility, energy, underground infrastructure scanning, smart transportation systems, engineering safety, and other technological domains. Projects will be evaluated based on their innovation, technical complexity, functionality, practical impact, and presentation quality.
The hackathon is open to students in grades 9–12 who are interested in engineering, technology, and applied sciences and are eager to put their knowledge into practice.
The University of Georgia has established a USD 1,000 prize fund for the winning teams, distributed as follows:
In addition to the cash prizes, participants will have the opportunity to connect with industry experts, university professors, and technology companies, gain valuable hands-on experience, and transform their ideas into real-world projects.
Participation in the Engineering Hackathon is free of charge.
