The Public Administration Department of the University of Georgia participated in the 5th International Conference of the Asia-Pacific Evaluation Association (APEA) held in Tokyo, Japan. UG became the first university in the South Caucasus and Eastern Europe to take steps toward supporting the institutionalization and professionalization of evaluation in the region.
UG signed the APEA Tokyo 2025 Declaration, joining the principles of the Manila Declaration to promote the institutionalization of M&E systems, strengthen national evaluation capacities, and advance academic programs and professional standards.
At the conference, Nodar Kherkheulidze and Dea Tsartsidze spoke on the panel “Beyond Algorithms: Reimagining Evaluation in the Age of AI,” alongside experts from the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, and other major institutions, sharing Georgia’s experience in M&E framework development and related challenges.
UG also joined a working group focused on strengthening evaluation professionalization and the role of academia in institutionalizing evaluation.
Participation in the conference further strengthens UG’s partnerships with leading international evaluation bodies and highlights the university’s commitment to advancing evaluation practice and its institutionalization in Georgia.
