A new international research center has been established at the University of Georgia – V-Dem Caucasus Regional Center, which is a regional representation of one of the most authoritative research institutions in the world. The center operates within the framework of a memorandum signed between the University of Georgia and the University of Gothenburg, and since February 2026 has already begun actively working on the first regional studies.
The main mission of the center is to study social processes in the South Caucasus - Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan - which includes the analysis of institutional changes, the study of public attitudes and the role of digital communication.
The research is based on V-Dem's global databases and, in parallel, local, empirical research is carried out, which provides a deep and evidence-based analysis of regional reality.
