On May 29, a Traditional Music Evening was held at the Grand Concert Hall of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire, organized by the University of Georgia. The event was dedicated to the promotion of Georgian folklore, sacred chants, and traditional arts.
The concert featured the University of Georgia Folk Ensemble, led by Malkhaz Erkvanidze and Giorgi Ushikishvili. The ensemble appeared before the audience for the first time, performing Georgian folk songs and hymns that had been restored from century-old audio recordings and manuscripts.
The evening was further enriched by performances from students of the School of Traditional Arts and laureates of the “My Musical Family” competition from Svaneti, Guria, and Tbilisi. The event also featured first-year students of the University of Georgia’s Bachelor's Program in Georgian Folk and World Folk Dance Choreography.
The event once again highlighted the University of Georgia’s vision of combining modern education with a strong commitment to preserving and promoting Georgian culture, traditions, and national identity. The university actively supports young people’s engagement in cultural and creative activities, provides a platform for the promotion of traditional arts, and contributes to the transmission of cultural heritage to future generations.
Today, the University of Georgia is recognized as one of the leading educational institutions in the country, offering high-quality education based on modern standards, diverse academic programs, and an active student life. The university places special emphasis on creating an integrated ecosystem of education, culture, and social development, where young people have the opportunity not only for professional growth but also for the development of their creative and cultural potential.
