Field Practice and Hiking

The School of Science and Technology at the University of Georgia organized two field trips as part of the university course Field Practice and Hiking. The first excursion took place from June 28 to July 1, with students camping in Adigeni near the Triala Lakes. The second trip, held from July 5 to 8, was based in the scenic Ateni Gorge.

During the semester, students attended lectures covering a wide range of topics, including:

  • Introduction to hiking,
  • Fundamentals of logistics and practical skills,
  • Orienteering techniques,
  • Protection against natural hazards,
  • Environmental ethics and conservation,
  • Travel safety, and more.

This course allows students to put theory into practice while fostering teamwork, self-reliance, and leadership. Beyond academic learning, these experiences strengthen physical and mental well-being, cultivate patriotic values, and encourage a sense of social responsibility.
