Within the framework of the joint project of the University of Georgia and the German Cancer Society (DKJ), a conference on "Multidisciplinary care in oncology – paving the way for a comprehensive cancer care network in Georgia" was held in Telavi on 30.09-01.10.2023. Purpose of the conference was to share German experience of cancer treatment in Georgia, promote multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of oncological diseases, as well as to strengthen cooperation of Georgian and German professionals in the field of oncology.

The conference was attended by experts from Germany, oncology doctors of medical clinics from Tbilisi and the regions, as well as representatives of professional associations and media.

On October 2, within the framework of the conference, a meeting was held with doctoral students of the public health program of the University of Georgia. Purpose of the meeting was to get acquainted with German projects in the field of public health within the framework of doctoral studies, share information about financial support for scientific/doctoral studies. Experts from Germany and representatives of donor organizations operating in Georgia took part in the meeting.

A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the University of Georgia and the German Cancer Society.
