At the University of Georgia, the presentation of the Georgian translation of the autobiographical book of the abolitionist Frederick Douglass - "Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave. Written by Himself" - was held, which was presented by the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the USA to Georgia, Robin L. Dunnigan was in attendance. The event was held as part of African-American History Month, which is celebrated annually in the US and Canada.
Ambassador Dunnigan, during her visit to the University of Georgia, stated that she is happy with the interest shown by the university in relation to issues of equality and cooperation in the process of translating the book. It should be noted that the publishing house of the University of Georgia participated in the competition of the book translation program of the US Embassy and received a grant, within the framework of which the autobiographical book of Frederick Douglass was translated and published.
Rector of the University of Georgia Konstantine Tofuria and Presidents of the University of Georgia: Giuli Alasania and Manana Sanadze addressed the invited guests. Among the guests were: professors, students, including African-American students of the University of Georgia and students of public and private schools.
