On 22nd of May, Academic Union Oxford hosted a public debate on: “Universities of the Future” in Oxford, England.
Rector of the University of Georgia - Konstantine Topuria delivered a speech on the following topic: “Universities should cooperate, not compete”.
Within the scope of the public debate, various issues were discussed, including:
· Is there a crisis of classical university models when passing from industrialism to the information age?;
· The idea and purpose of the future university;
· What will universities’ business model be?;
· How do you see the university campus of the future?;
· How and what will students be learning?;
· What role do universities play in lifelong learning?;
· How can students be involved in shaping universities?;
· Does giving students practical skills help them find work faster?;
· Does the university have a future without an effective online learning strategy?;
· Universities should cooperate, not compete.
At the end of the meeting Moderator Prof. Dr. Rui Verde, Director of the Academic Union Executive Programs handed the Certificate of an Expert in the Debate to Dr.Konstantine Topuria.
