International Workshop - Artificial Intelligence and the Georgian Language in the Digital Age

 

Within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Frankfurt and the University of Georgia, an international workshop on the topic "Artificial Intelligence and the Georgian Language in the Digital Era" was held on August 19-25.

The meeting was held in Mestia, with the support of the Georgian National Museum and the Svaneti Historical and Ethnographic Museum. The project was co-organized by the Digital Humanities Academy - Georgia.

The program covered interdisciplinary research issues and envisaged the transfer of knowledge to young scientists on such topical problems of digital humanities as artificial intelligence and the Georgian language in the digital era.

 

The lecture part of the workshop covered the following topics:

  • Artificial Intelligence - Two Sides of the Coin (Prof. Manana Tandashvili);
  • Artificial Intelligence for the Digital Sustainability of the Georgian Language (Prof. Lela Mirtskhulava);
  • Artificial Intelligence and Digital Decoding of Georgian Manuscripts Using eScriptorium (Dr. Mariam Kamarauli);
  • Linguistic Models (Dr. Tobias Weiss);
  • The problem of tokenization and low-frequency tokens in Georgian AI applications on the example of machine translation (Vakhtang Elerdashvili).
