On June18, 2018 Prof. Anna-Maria Orla-Bukowska, a social anthropologist, the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University, Kraków, Poland in the frame of International Visegrad Fund’s Vusegrad University Studies Grant, and by the initiative of the Department of History, School of Arts and Humanities, the University of Georgia, conducted public lecture on: ‘The Lessons of the Holocaust for the 21st Century Central Europe’.
Students and professors, the University of Georgia, European University, Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University participated in this event.
At the end of the public lecture participants signed a Petition to the Ministry of Education and Sciences of Georgia to join to the 2000 Stockholm Declaration, and the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), which unites governments and experts of 31 countries to strengthen, advance and promote Holocaust education, research and remembrance. This Initiative was proposed by the Department of History, the UG.
