On September 15, the University of Georgia hosted a grand ceremony for the Class of 2023 graduates. Approximately 1,000 Georgian and international students graduated from the university this year.
Professors Giuli Alasania and Manana Sanadze, as well as Rector Konstantine Tofuria, heads of university programs, representatives from academic circles, and invited guests of honor, all congratulated the graduates on their achievements.
Following tradition, awards were presented to students with the highest academic performance: Urmazdi Asali from the bachelor's program in English philology, Revaz Lazariashvili from the master's program in business administration, and Elene Gigineishvili, a graduate of the doctoral program in public health.
During the event, film director and People's Artist Lana Ghoghoberidze was honored with an honorary doctorate degree for her exceptional contributions to Georgia.
It's worth noting that the University of Georgia has a longstanding tradition of awarding honorary doctorate degrees to notable public figures, including Guram Dochanashvili, Gela Charkvian, Yulon Gagoshidze, Eldar Shengelaya, Giorgi Ushikishvili, Khatia Buniatashvili, Aka Morchiladze, and others.
In addition to the official proceedings, Niaz Diasamidze was responsible for creating a festive atmosphere and providing musical entertainment for the students.
