As part of the University of Georgia’s Scientific Hub, the Career Development and Employment Office held an informational meeting.
On October 25, within the University’s Scientific Hub, the Tsotne Javakhishvili Institute of Synthetic Biology was officially opened.
To honor the memory of the distinguished scientist and promote innovative research, the Tsotne Javakhishvili Scientific Award was established. The award amounts to 100,000 GEL and will be granted once every three years to outstanding scientists in three categories of natural sciences: Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
The Tsotne Javakhishvili Institute of Synthetic Biology is part of the University of Georgia’s Scientific Hub, which already includes the Institute of Molecular Medicinen and the Institute of One Health. The Hub represents an interdisciplinary research space that unites scientists from various fields to foster innovative discoveries and technological advancement.
The Institute of Synthetic Biology focuses on molecular engineering, genomic modifications, and biotechnological innovations, contributing to the expansion of the country’s research potential and the strengthening of international cooperation.
It is noteworthy that six research fellows currently work at the Institute — all former students of Tsotne Javakhishvili. They continue to follow his scientific principles and pursue research aligned with his vision.
In addition, on October 26, the University of Georgia hosted an evening dedicated to Tsotne Javakhishvili, where his colleagues, relatives, and friends gathered to commemorate his scientific achievements and lasting legacy.
