On July 10, the University of Georgia hosted the 2024 Achievement Celebration for STEM, Ideas, Book Friends, and Reading Clubs as part of the USAID Basic Education Program Partnership.
A total of 419 students from 45 schools in Tbilisi, Shida Kartli, Racha-Lechkhumi, and Kvemo Svaneti participated in the event. Konstantine Topuria, the rector of the University of Georgia, awarded certificates to the students. Representatives from the USAID Basic Education Program also recognized 50 teachers and 18 trainers from the UG Development Center and UG Idealab. During the event, a quiz competition was held, and Tbilisi N146 Public School and Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium emerged as winners, receiving STEM kits from the University of Georgia.
As the main partner of the USAID Basic Education Program, the University of Georgia successfully introduced club activities and engaged 419 students from 45 public schools in cognitive and innovation-related activities. Moving forward, the University of Georgia plans to expand these programs, introduce new activities to further enhance the students' educational experience, and provide ongoing support to school administrators and teachers.
The University of Georgia actively develops effective tools and opportunities for the innovative future of students and pupils. Through its collaboration with the USAID Basic Education Program, this joint effort has significantly improved the quality of education and promoted the professional development of teachers in Georgia.
