On 11th of July, Journalism Program of the University of Georgia participated in the signing of one of the most valuable document: “Paris Declaration on Freedom of Journalism Education” in France, Paris.
This is the first document that concerns freedom of journalism education. Declaration was elaborated by World Journalism Education Council. Leading programs of Journalism from top universities who share democratic values participated in the signing.
“Today it’s important to receive a quality information that can be only achieved by implanting the excellent journalism education. We are living in the era where freedom of media is in danger and the facts of disinformation is stated. I suppose that the existence of independent and quality media and the role in developing free society is crucial”- Director of School of Social Sciences- Natia Kaladze.
The declaration was signed within the scope of the Fifth World Journalism Education Congress at the University Paris-Dauphine. Also different challenges (fact check, verification, ethical issues) were discussed.
