UG Law Team achieved unprecedented success at Commercial Mediation Competition, went through semi-final and took third place among 66 teams.
It is noteworthy, that no team from Georgia has ever gotten as far as being in top 16. The School of Law Team of the University of Georgia achieved a landmark on international level.
Commercial Mediation Competition is the platform that lodges the practice of mediation.
The competition is held annually in February in Paris. The competing 66 teams are chosen by the competition rules among the world’s leading law schools. Preparation period is tedious because this competition requires critical thinking, culture of debates and learning to see things from another’s perspective.
In the first 4 rounds The University of Georgia played against one of the best law teams with leading Mediation Clinics: USA’s Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, Brazil’s Sao Paolo Law School, Denmark’s Aarhus University. In the last round UG played against the winner of tournament New Zealand’s University of Auckland.
School of Law of the University of Georgia supports and finances students to participate in different international competitions, also they are trained by Georgian and American couches. That’s why law team of UG is so successful on international levels.
