Program permission: For citizens of Georgia/foreign countries who have received complete general education in Georgia: 1) National exams; 2) English language B2 level; For entrants listed by the Order No. 224 / n of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia (see http://www.mes.gov.ge/content.php?id=1131&lang=geo): 1) Approvement of the procedures provided by the Order No. 224/n of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and submitting relevant documents. 2) English language B2 level. 3) Admission exam/interview in Biology-Chemistry-Physics (Basic Issues); The following certificates can prove the knowledge of English language (B2): TOEFL, IELTS, FCE and CERTUS. If the applicant does not have the above-mentioned certificate, the English language competence will be proved at university exam.
Program goals:

Goal of the program is to support effective functioning of health system through training of qualified and highly competent nurses. This program, offering integrated theoretical and practical study, will give graduates a basic knowledge of theory and methodology of nursing and develop clinical skills for planning and managing the nursing process, develop their ability to adapt to changing needs, lifelong learning and continuous professional development, and as a result, nurse will be able to conduct independent professional activities. Achievement of this goal will facilitate implementation of reforms in the health system of the country.
Graduates of the program will be able to be employed in medical facilities and public health organizations. They will also be able to continue their studies in nursing specialization, or to obtain master's, and in the future, PhD degrees

Learning outcomes:
Knowledge and understanding
Graduate will be able to:
  • Describes, explains, and reviews the theoretical foundations of nursing practice, including Human Anatomy-physiology, biochemistry, pathophysiology, pharmacology, social psychology, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, maternal and child care, geriatrics, and psychiatry.
  • Identifies and describes the stages of the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation).
  • Describes, explains, and reviews the purpose and rules of nursing interventions; explains the importance of performing them in accordance with protocols.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the core principles of health promotion and maintenance.
  • Describes, explains, and reviews modern medical technologies and methods used in nursing practice.
  • Discusses the principles of research related to nursing care problems.
  • Evaluates, defines and selects, as needed, the principles of management of difficult and problematic/critical (including conflict) situations;
  • Discusses the importance of preventive, diagnostic, treatment-rehabilitation and palliative measures at the individual and population levels;
  • Understands nurse’s functions and responsibilities in delivery of health services;
  • Understands, describes and interprets relationships between theoretical aspects of nursing;
  • Analyzes the influence of political and social contexts on healthcare delivery.
  • Explains the necessity of providing patients with complete, objective, and timely information.
  • Describes the importance of health teams in conducting a nursing process.

Skills
Graduate will be able to:
  • Applies the „Nursing Assessment“ method and nursing theories in practice;
  • Performs nursing manipulations and procedures;
  • Administers medications safely.
  • Maintains nursing documentation;
  • Manages nursing services using appropriate medical technologies and methods.
  • Applies principles of patient advocacy and confidentiality in practice.
  • Investigates, defines, and analyzes data and information necessary for solving specific clinical (including ethical) problems using standard and specific nursing methods and presents findings as conclusions.
  • Analyzes collaborative work with patients and families
  • Studies, compares, and evaluates individual and population health determinants using situational analysis.
  • Analyzes the situations associated with various ethical and medical care issues;
  • Within their competency, assesses the health status of individuals, populations, and specific target groups (by age, gender, ethnicity, diagnosis, or social status).
  • Develops professional records (reports, recommendations) to address issues related to nursing care.
  • Delivers detailed written and oral reports on health system and nursing-related topics to healthcare professionals and staff.
  • Communicates and educates patients, family members, and the public, including those with communication difficulties, in both oral and written forms.

Responsibility and autonomy
Graduate will be able to:
  • Evaluates their own learning process within various areas of nursing practice (including therapeutic, surgical, pediatric, and geriatric) and identifies further learning needs
  • Ensures protection of the rights of patients and medical staff by considering professional, ethical and legal (both local and international) norms and strives to implement them in nursing practice;
  • Discusses and considers the emotional, social, psychological, moral, and physical conditions of patients and their families as essential components of effective nursing care.
