Program permission: | The acceptance of applications for doctoral programs is announced once a year. Studies begin according to the academic calendar established by the academic council. Enrollment of students is carried out by order of the presidents, based on meeting the prerequisites for admission to the program. A person with a master's degree in the broad field of health care and social welfare, or an academic degree equivalent to it, can study at the doctoral program; or · Applicants with non-health qualifications if they are certified by one of the following: a) issues/subjects considering the areas of public health competencies (health policy and management, epidemiology-biostatistics, research methods, project management, health services management, ethics and bioethics, health and medicine History, health insurance, healthy lifestyle, behavior change, practice in the field of health care, (bachelor/master's thesis and others) with a volume of at least 60 ECTS credits; for which the characterization of the applicant by the supervisor from the workplace should be additionally presented at the interview; c) at least 2 years of experience in research activities in social health and/or health care with presentation of appropriate results; For which, at the interview, the characterization of the applicant by the head of the research, indicating his role and place in the research, a relevant article, or the presentation of the research results at professional conferences should be presented. · A person whose knowledge of the English language at least B2 level is confirmed by a relevant international certificate (TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, IELTS, FCE and CERTUS), by a document confirming studying abroad in an English-language bachelor's/master's/doctoral program or by passing an English language exam acceptable to a doctorate program at the University of Georgia. When passing the university foreign language exam, the minimum level of competence in English is 60% of the maximum grade. If the requirements related to qualifications and competences are met, the applicant is obliged to submit a research concept in the direction of the subject to be studied, based on a positive assessment of which the enrollment is carried out. |
Program goals: | Prepare a scientist of broader profile in public health, who will be able to create new knowledge in the field, structurally understand and expand existing knowledge that will contribute to increasing health and well-being of the country's population and consequently, improve public and global health. Graduate of doctoral program will have the knowledge based on the latest achievements in public health, will be able to research health determinants with the use of innovative technologies, evaluate results obtained through modern methods of their management, develop and teach complex learning modules in public health, prepare scientific projects in the fields of public health and implement them according to latest standards of management. Doctoral program gives graduates the opportunity to hold leadership positions at higher educational and research institutions, health organizations, insurance companies which have health insurance services, international organizations, governmental and non-governmental bodies, scientific-research institutions related to public, global and international health policy. |
