Quality Assurance

Internal Quality Assurance

Development of educational programs:

According to the Provision of the educational program, it is possible to have two types of programs, namely:

  • Programs that are created and run in a specific competence center or school
  • Programs that are created and implemented as Independent Educational Programs (IEP).

In the case of both types of programs (whether it is a new or an existing program), a Program Development Council (PDC) is established.

According to the regulations of the educational program, PDC is an internal quality assurance mechanism, which is responsible for the content side of the program. According to the regulation, persons who can ensure content and other formal issues of the program will be selected as members of the Program Development Council.

In the case of school programs, the Program Development Council is staffed by the School Board, and in the case of IEP, by the IEP Founding Board. The permanent members of the development councils of both the independent educational program and the program included in the school are:

  • Supervisor of the program
  • Quality assurance manager
  • Academic staff
  • Employer
  • Student

Taking into account the individual specifics and needs of the program, the provision also provides for the possibility of adding members.

After developing an educational program at the Program Development Council,  it is sent for analysis to the Quality Assurance Office of the University of Georgia, which evaluates the program and its attached documents. After the assessment, the office decides whether the program should be submitted for review to the Program Accreditation Council (PAC). The Program Accreditation Council is empowered to decide whether the program should be approved.

Evaluation of educational programs:

Modifying  and development of existing programs is the most important task of the quality assurance service, which is carried out by the service on the basis of the provision of the educational program.

The program is evaluated collegially by the Program Development Council. For this, both direct and indirect mechanisms of results evaluation are used.

Evaluation of the results of the program with direct mechanisms is carried out at least once every 1 year, and evaluation of the results of the program with indirect mechanisms is carried out at least once every 3 years.

The Council uses measurable tools for direct and indirect evaluation of program results.

The Program Development Council, based on the information received using the appropriate tools, makes an analysis and based on the protocol, makes a decision on what steps should be taken to modify the program.

The final review of the decision of the PDC is made at PAC.

The Program Accreditation Council (PAC) consists of representatives of the Central Quality and School Quality and the head of the program whose program issue is discussed. If during the review it is determined that the program has a special difficulty or special knowledge is needed to evaluate or study it, the Council is authorized to invite experts. Experts can be selected both from the university and outside it. PAC determines the need to invite experts, and PAC is obliged to determine by what criteria experts should be selected. The PAC is an independent board and an important structural unit that makes decisions regarding the modification or development of programs.
