External Quality Assurance

The Association for Transnational Higher Education – ATHEA

In April 2023, the University of Georgia became an institutional member of one of Europe's authoritative accrediting bodies, ATHEA (The Association for Transnational Higher Education), which means that the association will actively cooperate with the university in the direction of international recognition, quality assurance and future development.

Along with joining the organization, the university started work in the direction of institutional assessment, in order to assess the university according to the standards and guidelines for quality assurance of the European space - ESG 2015.

European University Association - EUA

EUA - European University Association represents and supports higher education institutions in 48 European countries. It was founded in 2001 as a result of the merger of the Association of European Universities and the Rectors' Conferences of the European Union. The EUA plays a key role in the Bologna process and influences EU policy on higher education, research and issues.

EUA is the main voice of the European higher education community and provides a platform for institutions to collaborate and share best practices. Its mission is to promote the development of a coherent system of European higher education and research, to provide opportunities for cooperation and exchange of good practices for universities and recognition of the importance of universities for the development of the knowledge-based economy and society.

From 2022, the University of Georgia became an individual full member of the Association of European Universities.

ASIIN-Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics/Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics

ASIIN is a German accreditation agency focused mainly on the accreditation of programs in engineering, informatics/computer sciences, natural sciences, mathematics and medicine. Its full name in German is "Akkreditierungsagentur für Studiengänge der Ingenieurwissenschaften, der Informatik, der Naturwissenschaften und der Mathematik." It is recognized both nationally in Germany and internationally not only in Europe, but throughout the world.

Since 2019, the university has applied to the agency for the accreditation of the one-step program of medicine. The accreditation process was successfully implemented, as a result of which the agency granted accreditation to the medicine program in 2023. Of course, in accordance with the regulations and standards of the agency, the program was modified.

Central and East European Management Development Association - CEEMAN

CEEMAN, i.e. Central and Eastern European Management Development Association, is an international association that ensures quality improvement in management development globally, with a special focus on Central and Eastern Europe. To achieve this goal, the association conducts external evaluations, both at the institutional and programmatic levels.

The University of Georgia became an institutional member of the association in 2016. The School of Business and Administrative Sciences has started active work in the direction of Ceeman international accreditation of the school. As a result, the school won the association's recognition in 2021.

Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. - ABET

ABET, known as the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that accredits college and university programs primarily in the applied and natural sciences, computing, engineering, and engineering technology disciplines. It is recognized as an authoritative accrediting organization by the United States Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The University of Georgia actively cooperates with the organization, which is reflected in the preparation for the accreditation of the undergraduate program of informatics.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business - AACSB

AACSB - Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business, is a global not-for-profit association that accredits undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs in business and accounting. AACSB aims to improve the quality of business education worldwide. AACSB accreditation is recognized as a mark of excellence in business education.

The university has been a member of the agency since 2018, and the program's recognition work began in 2021 and successfully passed the first and second phases out of 5 phases. Work is currently underway to successfully complete the third phase.

ECFMG - Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, is an organization based in the United States that examines international medical graduates (IMG) who wish to participate in US graduate medical education programs or participate in clinical practice.

ECFMG certification allows universities to allow their graduates to register for the USMLE exams and obtain a doctor's license in the USA without passing the previous stage.

The University of Georgia has ECFMG certification since 2020.
