Teona Akubardia
Deputy Secretary of the National Security Council of Georgia
Ms. Teona Akubardia is a deputy secretary of the National Security Council of Georgia since 2014. Before joining the NSC she has worked for civil society organizations of Georgia in the Defense and Security field for 10 years. Ms. Akubardia is a founder of the Civil Council on Defence and Security and has worked on various projects related to the Defense field. She is the author of several publications on Georgia’s security sector reform and Democratic control over the armed forces.
In 2002 she graduated Ivane Javakshishvili Tbilisi State University and was granted with Master’s degree in International Relations and History of Diplomacy. In 2016 she gained her degree in Master of Arts in international Security and Strategy at King’s College London and attended the post graduate level a year course in Royall College of Defense Studies in London. Currently Ms. Akubardia is a PhD student at Tbilisi State University and the topic of doctoral research is in on Revisionist Russia and hybrid war in Georgia on the examples of conflict in Abkhazia, Georgia.
